Data stored in your computer disk is valuable and important information. Your computer disk typically has a very large number of programs, files, folders and documents. Data stored includes the computer operating system software, control directories and various settings. Also stored are software applications that came with the computer, plus all the software you have subsequently purchased. For personal or home users the computer disk contains all your personal information data files, including emails, photos, music, videos, financial records, and other personal records. All these need to be fully backed up so they are not lost if a computer malfunction is experienced. The very low cost Personal User version of BRAQaR will assess your data backup recover/restore risk. If high risk it is recommended that you take steps to improve your data backup activities. You must minimise any inconvenience and potential loss of data when a recover and restore of computer data using saved backup details is needed. For small to medium sized enterprises and organisations the computer disk records all the data files necessary for operating your business or organisation. It is essential that your computer disk data is being regularly and fully backed up. You must avoid any potential business disruption and loss of vital information when a computer malfunction is experienced. Regular internal audit of your backup risk using BRAQaR is highly recommended, to ensure that backup and recover/restore risks are minimised. If your BRAQaR assessed backup risk level is unacceptable, then you must take steps to improve your backup activities. You need to be confident that there is no business disruption when a backup recover/restore is necessary. It is inevitable that sometime, possibly soon, something will happen that causes a computer problem. When this happens the computer usually can no longer be used. Data may even have been corrupted and can not be relied on. Click here for list of incidents that have been found to be the most likely causes of a disruption to a computer or computer site, or a disk data integrity problem. Click here for information about the chance of a computer or disk data problem happening to you. When a computer or disk data problem is encountered it is often necessary to repair or replace your computer. Before you can get your computer system running again, however, you will need to recover the disk data using the saved disk data backups. When a disk data backup recovery is necessary you must be confident that all your computer disk data details can be recovered. In addition, after having actioned a backup recovery, you also must be able to restore the recovered disk to ensure that it is fully up-to-date and includes the data modifications that have been actioned after the disk data backup was saved. Use BRAQaR to assess your backup risk situation, and determine whether or not your computer disk data backup and recovery methodology and activities are appropriate and satisfactory. Will your computer user's dependence and reliance on data being accurate and totally up-to-date still be met after a disk data backup recovery and restore is necessary? There are two versions of BRAQaR software: The Personal User version of BRAQaR should be used to assess your backup risk situation if you only use your computer only for personal or home use. It costs a very low price of only USD 99 cents for 'one BRAQaR Internet session' using the Personal User version of BRAQaR. x Click here for definition of 'one BRAQaR Internet session' click here to display a table of the backup risk questions included or excluded in the Personal User version and the Business version of BRAQaR software The Business version of BRAQaR should be used to assess the backup risk status for a small to medium sized business or organisation. A one month or one year user access authorisation code must be purchased. The business version can be used as many times as required for up to 31 days (or for a year) to action an internal audit review of the backup risk for all your computers.

| About this questionnaire | What is this Backup Risk Assessment Questionnaire designed to do? | ||||||
|
This is a self assessment questionnaire to assist you in determining if your business or personal PC can survive a recovery of your disk data from backup media due to encountering a major problem to information recorded in your computer. The Personal User version is intended to be used for PCs used for personal or home computing use. The Business user version questionnaire is intended to be used by managers or owners of a small to medium sized business or organisation, that does not have Information Technology and computer administration activities audited. BRAQaR assessment is applicable to conventional 'point in time' data backups. This is the normal disk data backup activity. When a disk data backup is actioned the backup details are written to a data storage device for use if a disk recovery is required. BRAQaR does not attempt to address the assessment of backup and recovery situations designed for very quick recovery by duplication or mirroring of data. Duplication or replication involves copying data immediately any changes are actioned to a completely different computer system typically located at a physically different building. Mirroring requires dual mirrored computer systems, typically located in physically different buildings. These backup and recovery methodologies are used by major businesses or organisations for rapid data recovery of critical business systems. The purpose of the Backup Risk Assessment Report is to identify whether a personal PC user or a business or organisation can rely on the data backup and recovery activities currently being actioned. If it is necessary to action a backup recover and restore using backup media, how successful and reliable is the recovery and restore in ensuring all data is restored fully up-to-date. BRAQaR assessment is very useful to companies and organisations where computer backup activities are not audited, and in this situation the Backup Risk Assessment report provides managers or owners of businesses a high level assessment of the overall disk data backup and recovery capability. The Backup Risk Assessment Report may be the wakeup call that highlights potential risks to the continuity of your business or organisation. Home users of PCs will find this software useful, as they may not be aware of the inconvenience and problems they will experience if their computer crashes, and a recovery and restore of the system from backups is needed. Are you aware that a restore and recovery of disk data consists of two steps?
BRAQaR deals with the issues involved in achieving computer disk data being able to be recovered and restored fully up-to-date with reliability and confidence when a recovery of disk data is necessary. Data problems can occur due to any one of a number of risks to the integrity of the computer data being encountered. ( examples are: a disk failure, encountering a virus that corrupts disk content, or incorrect computer user activity. ) BRAQaR questionnaire requires your response to questions about your data backup housekeeping activities and related factors. Assessment of the backup risk you may be exposed to is based on your responses. The Backup Risk Assessment Report generated by BRAQaR provides an evaluation of your backup and data recovery and restore capability to fully recover and restore ALL your disk information completely up-to-date. The Backup Risk Assessment Report identifies potential risks you may be exposed to if you need to restore your disk from your backup media. This indicates, in general terms, either how well placed or at risk is the integrity of the information in your computer, and an evaluation of your data recovery and restore capability. If a re-key from source records or documents of transactions since the backup was made is necessary, in order to ensure that your recovered disk data is totally up-to-date and fully restored, then an estimate of total time involved and likely cost to do this is calculated and reported. | User Access Authorisation Code |
About the user access authorisation code
There are two versions of BRAQaR software: |
||||||
|
1 - Personal User version Purchasers of the very low cost access to use the Personal User version, after they make a Paypal payment, are automatically and immediately directed to the questionnaire. Access, however, is limited to 'one BRAQaR Internet session" use. ( if you would like to see what this is, click here, then click on the definition of 'one Internet BRAQaR session link ) During the session a user can undertake a number of backup risk assessments for the PCs or computers they have. After the Backup Risk Assessment Report for a PC or computer has been displayed and/or printed, the user can press the back key on their browser to run another assessment for another PC or computer. 2 - Business version For Business version users there are two classes of user access authorisation code, supplied on-line when the user makes a fast and secure Paypal payment to purchase their user access authorisation code.
The Backup Risk Assessment Report generated by BRAQaR could provide your company or organisation significant benefits by highlighting potential risks to your computer data because backup activities are not being adequately addressed. Return to where you were |

| Cost for Business user access code |
Cost to purchase user access authorisation code for the Business version of BRAQaR The cost of the 31 day user access authorisation code is very affordable, only USD $30.00 for 31 days access use. This low cost (of only about $1 a day) is intended to make cost involved an insignificant amount compared to the benefit of an easy to use self-audit tool, and possibly also save your business considerable potential business disruption and costs that you may not be aware of. Click here to be directed to the web page for user access code purchase details The cost of the 1 year (12 month) user access authorisation code is USD $210.00 for 1 year access use. Purchasers are allocated a unique user access code. Purchasers are required to register their details with us (in case they forget their access code). The 1 year user access code option is often used as an "internal audit" facility, typically by a company or organisation that wishes to regularly use BRAQaR - Backup Risk Assessment Questionnaire and Report software as part of their internal audit activities, to review the current backup risk for their computer(s). | Demonstration version |
Demonstration versions of Questionnaire and Report A demonstration version can be actioned by clicking on the "continue in demonstration mode" button that displays in the Free Demonstration panel. click here to go to this panel The demonstration of the Business version can also be actioned by using a user access code of the four letters demo (i.e. key in demo to the yellow input box for the user access code ). This activates the demonstration of the Backup Risk Assessment Report. Note that the demonstration version has the following characteristics: a) - questionnaire responses operate the same way that the "pay to use" software operates. The demonstration user can enter responses and these will be validated in the normal manner. This enables the demonstration user to evaluate the way that the questionnaire functions. b) - user "HELP" (click on the green information icon) will display help details about the questions, and assist users to understand the way that the Backup Risk Assessment report operates. c) - however, note that the demonstration version of the report does not use or display any of the responses entered for questions in the demonstration report, or action any pre-report generation cross-checks of responses. d) - The Personal User version has a standard personal demonstration example backup risk assessment report. e) - The Business version has several sample backup risk assessment of business situations for the demonstration report to be displayed that can be selected by the user. This is actioned when the "view Backup Risk Assessment Report" is clicked. Each demonstration report is an example of a typical report that could apply to many small or medium sized businesses. The examples highlight if disk data backups are being actioned in a manner that protects the valuable business data in the computer system. The potential cost and business disruption that may happen when a restore of disk data from backup media is needed is identified in the report. Return to where you were |
